FAQs

How do I set up at home to practice online yoga?

One of the things we love about yoga is that all you need is your body. Find a space, wear comfortable clothes, set up your laptop, tablet, or phone, and go to it! You may want to create a hot and humid environment in a small room or bathroom using heaters, humidifiers, or running the shower. Many of us have been practicing outdoors or at home at room temperature. No matter your environment and climate, Bikram Yoga will meet you where you are.

What’s the difference between livestream classes and online classes?

Both livestream classes and online classes are accessed the same way: pre-registration is required and a Zoom link will be sent to you. Livestream classes are broadcast live from the indoor class, and you practice along with the teacher’s instruction, but they don’t see you. In an online class, you interact directly with the teacher.

How do I attend an online class?
  1. If you don’t have a Zoom account, create one first. Complete this step at any time, and do it well before class begins.
  2. Make sure you have an active membership, class card, or drop-in.
  3. Pre-register for class to receive the Zoom link. You can up to pre-register seven days in advance, right until when class begins.
Is there an app I can use for registering?

In addition to our website, you can use the Mindbody app. The app is a convenient way to manage your schedule and account on the go. Download for iOS or Android.

I signed up for a class but didn’t receive the Zoom link. What should I do?
  • If you didn’t receive a Zoom link for a class you’re about to take, contact us immediately to receive the link.
  • The most common reason you don’t have the Zoom link is that we don’t have permission to send it to you. Log into your account, go to My Info, and check the boxes to receive email notifications. This way, you’ll get the links automatically after you pre-register, along with reminders and schedule changes.
  • If you’re still having issues with notifications, please contact us.
What is Zoom?

Most everyone has heard of and used Zoom by now, but if you haven’t, no worries! Zoom is a video chat service that allows you to connect to us from your computer, tablet, or phone. Once you sign up for an account (it’s free!), you will join in on our live classes using a link that we send to you after registering.

How do I get a Zoom account?
  1. Go to https://zoom.us.
  2. Click “Sign up; it’s free!”
  3. Confirm your date of birth (for security purposes.)
  4. Enter an email address, or click to sign in with your Google or Facebook login.

If you entered an email address:

    • Click on the “Activate Account” button in your email.
    • You will be brought back to Zoom, where you will create a password.
    • Click “Continue”
    • At this point, you are signed in and will be encouraged to invite others (which you can skip) and test a meeting.
    • If you have never used Zoom before, you will be prompted to download the software.

If you sign in with Google or Facebook:

    • Click the appropriate button.
    • If you are not logged in to Google or Facebook, enter that password when prompted. Otherwise, you are good to go!
    • If you have never used Zoom before, you will be prompted to download the software.
How do I get the latest updates about classes?
  • The schedule on our website and in the Mindbody app has the most up-to-date information and includes who’s teaching.
  • We have a Facebook group called BYSJ Everywhere where you can get updates, information, inspiration, and share with others.
  • We regularly send out news to our members, so sign up.
More than one person is practicing online yoga in my household. How do we handle this?

f you wish to include others in your household to try out a yoga class, we certainly understand and support that. As your practice continues, all adults should hold an active membership. Kids and pets practice for free!
If you have two or more adults with an active BYSJ membership, please register everyone for class, so that we have accurate attendance and your hard work is acknowledged.
