Here’s everything you need to know to have a great first class

Before Class

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day to arrive fully hydrated.
  • Avoid eating a heavy meal for up to three hours before class.
  • Wear light, non-restrictive clothing. Women: think shorts or leggings, jog bra or halter top. Men: wear shorts or bathing trunks; T-shirts are optional. Be prepared to sweat a lot!
  • Bring a mat, a large towel, and a water bottle. We have a complimentary water station with filtered alkaline electrolyte water.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in with your teacher, get oriented to the studio, and set up in the yoga room. Class always starts on time.

During Class

  • Listen carefully. Your teacher will tell you what to do, how to do it, and why you should do it. Follow along the best you can. If you miss something, we do almost everything twice – so you can try again the second time.
  • Stay with us in the room. Sit down and rest if you need to, and have all the water you need.
  • Always remember to breathe. Work less, breathe more.

After Class

  • Stay in Savasana, the resting pose. Your first instinct may be to get up and go – stay! Savasana helps you to recuperate and recover and allows your heart rate and breathing to return to normal. We recommend at least two minutes; you can take as long as you like.
  • Replenish your electrolytes to help prevent headaches or cramping.
  • Your experience after class can vary. You may be hungry, have less appetite, feel energetic, or need a nap. It’s all good; be patient and avoid self-judgment as your body adapts.
  • Take your next class within 1-2 days, even if you feel sore. It will help you to learn the series, get used to the heat, and maximize your benefits.

Here are a few extra tips

Before Class

  • Use a yoga mat or practice on carpeting and use a large towel. Have water on hand.
  • We will send the Zoom link to you one hour before class. Download the app and give yourself enough time to log in. Classes always start on time, so sign on at least five minutes early to avoid any technical delays.
  • If you can boost the heat in your room, great. If not, don’t sweat it.

During Class

  • Practice carefully and safely, especially if your room isn’t very warm.

After Class

  • Don’t skip your final Savasana. It can be easy to get up and go – stay in it for at least two minutes. It helps you recuperate and allows your heart rate and breathing to return to normal.
